Hi,

This is my first post...
I know that there has been some previous threads about this, but since rules are changing all the time...here is my question:
I am QF Gold and I will be flying out of HKG on a QF flight to SYD and one of my colleague will be flying to Helsinki with AY, can I invite him as a guest in the CX lounge? The Qantas rules say that to bring a guest in the lounge we need to be traveling together on the same flight. My understanding of CX lounge access policy is that my guest only needs to be traveling (on any airlines or OW metal?).

Thank you in advance for your feedback on this one!

I can't give advice about HKG lounges. So just a small clarification, the QF rules don't actually say "on the same flight", but it is implied.

Must say on taking a guest I have never had the guest tickets checked (apart from at QF SYD First Lounge)

I think the added confusion comes from the fact that Qantas state on their website:
"As an additional benefit, Platinum and Gold Qantas Frequent Flyers (Emerald and Sapphire oneworld® members) may also enter the lounges of our oneworld alliance partners## when travelling on eligible flights that are marketed~~ and operated by a oneworld alliance airline. You may also invite one guest. Note that both you and your guest need to be travelling together further that day on an eligible flight that is marketed~~ and operated by a oneworld alliance airline.^ "

While Cathay simply mention for OW Sapphire: "Passenger + 1 guest (departing on Cathay Pacific, Dragonair or oneworld carriers flights only)"

Does Qantas have a say on CX lounge entry rules for QF Gold?

Surely CX have ultimate discretion!

Qantas have different rules of access to QF lounges for their own elites than for other oneworld elites. The latter is due to oneworld contractual arrangements.

While Qantas can deny it's own member's guest due to QFF policies in this circumstance it can't for those of other oneworld carriers.

The CX lounges would admit you and your guest under those same oneworld policies.

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...
