I'm a QANTAS QF WP looking to book flights through my Cathay Pacifix CX Avios account, due to the ability to transfer points from my credit card rewards program. I note that this redemption is available both through QANTAS for 30200 QFF points and CX for 20000 Avios points.

My question is - If I were to book this with Cathay Pacific Avios points, would I still be able to access my QFF platinum entitlements through my QFF number? Specifically, extra checked baggage and lounge access. I'm sure someone here is tried this before and may have such a nugget of information.

I can't answer for CX, but I have done with BA as their redemptions are similarly better value than using QFF points. The trick with BA is to select that you're making the booking for someone else (not yourself), but then enter your own name into the passenger details. This way it doesn't automatically attach your BA number to the booking. After booking you can then go into MMB and add your QFF number. Hopefully something similar works with CX.

I've used my CX points to book a QF domestic flight for myself. I was able to change the FF number to QF after booking and able to access status benefits.

Amusingly the flight even listed on my QF activity statement but as an ineligible classic reward.

Cathay Pacific's program is Asia Miles and they do not use Avios.

That aside, yes, being able to change the FF# to QF once the ticket is issued should allow for use of WP status
