As per the title.

From May 31th (30th For LHR departure) it's gone from a scheduled 5:30pm arrival and 7:45pm departure to 8:45pm.

(we are on it nid June and received a notification)

Anyone know why?

That's interesting. They also revert back to the original schedule from 8 July. 3 hours is far too much time to spend in the SIN lounges... On the bright side, you arrive MEL at a slightly more humane time of 0600 rather than 0500.

I got told it's because there is overnight runway works in MEL atm which have been affecting A380 arrivals when there is bad weather. That's partly why one diverted to ADL last week. An hour later both runways are available. This is a rumour / industry-gossip tho...

I thought the 388's could only employ 16/34 (not 09/27), or is that just for departures?

I asked my source (who could be full of cow manure) who clarified that 16/34 has had closures for works, and QF10 often comes in earlier than scheduled when 16/34 isn't back open yet. In theory you can land on 27 when it's dry, but no one ever does, and 27 also has some taxiways shut atm which are a problem for the A380 span. So you can hold if you have the fuel, if not you end up in ADL/SYD. Quite often they have been delaying departures out of SIN any way to allow for this, so perhaps it's just formalising that.

Of course it might not have anything to do with that at all! :)

Well, your friend isn't full of cow manure.

Just check the YMML briefing notes and relevant air supplement, and there are indeed runway works going on there. Works on 16/34 run from 0001 to 0600, and there's also a number of taxiways which are being closed from time to time during works.

Standing room only in SIN F lounge the other week. I can imagine a delay of one hour will piss quite a few people off.

You can imagine one owuld be cheesed off with a paid F fare to/from LHR and be struck standing for an hour in the F lounge.

I also received the notification as I am on this flight in 3 week time as was going to miss my connection MEL-SYD.

I could have had any flight I wanted, almost, and I could have taken the direct SIN-SYD QF006 operated by 3 class 747 with row 40 already taken. Would have been an interesting choice had this been a 4 class sold as 3 class.

Funny how on the same booking I made a change a few weeks ago and had to pay $138 for the privilege yet the airlines can make changes as they see fit.

And no I am not looking for a debate, or reassurance, on how airlines can do what they please....

There is a solution, just spend the time in the much bigger J lounge, I've entered the F lounge - standing room only and moved to the J lounge which still had plenty of space. There is marginal difference between the two lounges really not like SYD/MEL.

I'm on the first 31 May delayed SIN departure. If only 3 hours was enough to run to Jumbo Seafood for some chilli crab and get back in time for boarding... I'd chance it with 4, but not sure about 3.

I'm on this from SIN-MEL in about 2 weeks, didn't get any notification.. Checked my booking and the change is there.. now down to a shorter connection to return flight to Canberra.. Hopefully still enough time for a quick shower in Melbourne as I was hoping to direct to work on landing.. Oh well. its only an hour.

Jumbo now has an outlet in NSRCC. I haven't been there before, but it's just down the road from the start of runway 02C.

Thanks for letting me know. I wasn't aware of that outlet, but I have a feeling 3 hours may not be enough for that one either unless someone has tried it themselves?
