Hi !

We are travelling back to Melbourne on QF10, after two years out of the country.

Since our arrival will be on Easter Sunday, we are trying to get as much information about the landing in Melbourne, to avoid any issues considering is a public holiday and we will have a very jetlagged 4-year-old.

In particular, I would like to ask:
- If you are going all the way to Melbourne, do you do immigration and customs in Melbourne or Darwin ?
- How much free time do you really have in transit in Darwin (accounting for immigration, customs, security)?
- I saw the aeroplane arrives to Melbourne's T2 . If the immigration/customs happens in Darwin, do you actually leave through T2 or are passengers internally diverted to the Qantas domestic terminal?

thanks!
Carlos

As Kiwi_Flyer mentioned, immigration and customs are all done in Melbourne. Not sure what it's like in Darwin, but when it comes through Perth everything is handled through the international section of the terminal. Anyone flying domestically gets given a pass to skip the customs/immigration stuff.

If someone is picking you up from Melbourne they need to meet you at international arrivals.

Not a pass but an orange "D" sticker on the boarding pass with the ID number written on it which will still need to be presented to immigration on arrival with corresponding photo ID for verification

DRW being hot humid and sweaty.
Hopefully the young one has felt hot humid sweaty weather before.
I am from Asia myself, 15 years in the Malaysian and Brunei heat and humidity, ick.
They probably use the 45 mins to refuel the plane, but you can't sit on the plane while they do it, so everyone off, and back on again.
T2 is MEL's international terminal, T1 is the MEL QFd terminal, so you will do passport arrival formalities in MEL.
Edit: for Aust arrrivals, don't forget to do the DPD (digital passenger declaration) online or on the app.
Can fill it in 7 days prior to arrival, but must be competed 72 hours prior to arrival into Aust.
I think the orange IPC has gone now, or they are taking it away soon.
