I am booked on this flight and was wondering is there anything to stop me while in transit leaving the airport and walking to a nearby Gym. Stopover is 3.35 hours. Will have QF lounge access to change and shower when I return. Is there any where to leave carry on in First or Business lounge.

Any comments would be appreciated

Where is the Gym? - perhaps a hotel?

AKL is quite a way from most places.

If everything is on-time you would have little more than 90 minutes after arrival and exiting immigration/customs before boarding commences for LAX ¾ hour before scheduled departure. Also note the extra security precautions and baggage search at the gate for USA flights - add an extra ¼ hours for that ...

They have left luggage facilities at a cost, but that will take another 5 minutes before and after depositing.

Do you know of a gym nearby? AKL is a long way from the city, and is in an industrial area itself.

I wouldn't risk it. I would be staying on the lounge.

i'm sure you can do push ups, sit ups, etc in the lounge.... i'm sure its not against house rules.

What sort of facilities you require?

I have found a good pair of shoes and shorts, you can walk or run around the airport perimeter if you wish

QF Staff didn't stop me when I lost a bet at SYD T2 QP..
Wish they had stopped me after about 60 pushups though..

There is a gym within walking distance from the terminal but given the timings and feedback I might just do some 13 ounce weightlifting in the lounge

Could always chat to one of the tug drivers and offer to perform a number of aircraft pushbacks, thus saving them some $$$$ on diesel :)
