Hi all,

I have noticed that QF 35 (MEL-SIN) has been cancelled 3 times in the last 3 weeks.
At this stage I have only been able to confirm one of these cancellations being Tech.

Any other reasons for this. Could it be that they are not filling these flights and moving pax accross to Emirates ??
Just a wild stab.

I'm heading over to SIN next month on this exact flight, hence why I have been monitoring this flights status.:?:

According to the QF source website the last cancellation was for tech on 26th April, so I imagine today's cancellation is probably the same reason.

26th April 2013 - VH-QPA Positioning Flight.

QANTAS A330-300 VH-QPA positioned Sydney -Singapore this afternoon as QF6019 in order to operate QF6 Singapore - Sydney. An additional A330-300 was needed at Singapore following the cancellation of QF35 Melbourne - Singapore.26th April 2013 - VH-QPH Melbourne Technical Issue.

Airbus A330-300 VH-QPH encountered a technical issue at Melbourne today causing the cancellation of QF35 Melbourne - Singapore.

JQ7 which leaves around the same time?

Better damn well not be. Mrs Ansett and I are flying QF35 on 17 May

Not even in star class rather wait for the EK flight than JQ. And hope they keep the F lounge open too lol

Notice Red Roo is browsing here. I did JQ MEL-SIN last year on a discounted fare. Wasn't that bad and the timing of their flight was great for me, but yes, wouldn't be happy to be relegated to JQ internationally after purchasing QF fare, not even StarClass would cut it.

These cancellations (I could only see 2 since 01APR til today) have been due to various operational reasons including lightening strike and mechanical issues. We never would cancel a flight due to load factors.

So what happened to the passengers booked on these canceled flights?????

Hmmm so what is the contingency plan when this happens ?

EK or SIN via SYD ?

There's always a considered "plan B", however it's generally managed on the day as it's often subject to availability. We do reacommodate customers onto EK and SQ where possible, and in some cases via SYD or on JQ. If you find yourself in this situation, our ground staff would be happy to discuss your options and preference should the assigned alternative not be suitable to you.

Jet Star.....!!!

Dont even go there. I booked this flight 8 months ago (when QF were still flying A380's) in J.
Was going to treat the wife for her first and prob last "J" Class A380 ride.
So from A380 to 747-400, now to A330. I was already close to cancelling and going with SQ.

Would be happy enough to go through SYD then jump on a 747 Refurb (QF5).

Putting me on a JQ flight would be 'THE END'.

Thanks Red Roo! This just brought memories of a similar situation flooding back - once my flight on a Star Alliance carrier was cancelled and I was then rebooked on another flight on a One World carrier. Would I have been able to earn QF points for that flight, given that the One World carrier would ultimately have had a share (if not all) of the revenue? I wasn't an AFF member when this happened...

While I cannot comment on Star Alliance programs, we honour any points/status credits for the original ticketed itinerary should your example be in the reverse. It may be worth contacting your specific Star Alliance program to discuss your options as Qantas would not have access to your original booking.

No worries, I'm not a Star Alliance member and anyway the flight was way back in 2006 but good to know for the future...

In theory yes you can earn points on your substituted QF flight. I say in theory, only because I've seen the opposite of a QF passenger being put onto SQ and earning points with star alliance.
