Flew QF583 SYD-PER (73H, VH-VZS) in Y on Saturday evening. Relatively full cabin.

On arrival in PER at Gate 14, ~6 police officers with 1 sniffer dog present along the length of the aerobridge. Everybody disembarking was eyeballed & instructed to keep to the right side of the aerobridge & walk in single file, in order to allow dogs to do their thing.

What's going on?

searching for drugs. I think supply is much greater on the east coast (and hence profits in bringing it over). Either that or there was some festival in Perth and they were wanting to catch casual users?

Perhaps they were looking for a particular person? I'm just speculating but perhaps they had received intelligence that a person of interest was on your flight. Do you know if they caught anyone?

Over the past 2 months the AFP have been randomly targeting domestic arrivals between the PER QF and Virgin terminals, not specific to drugs and not targeting any 'one' individual as far as I can tell. Could be part of a greater deterrence push too?
