Anyone know why QF77 on 25/12/09 is not flying? It has made QF71 rather full!

One would suspect overall demand on that particular day might be the reason.

I've flown 25/12 a few times. Always much higher demand than I would have thought.

EF even shows it

Uh, yes, wasnt the question why QF 77 (not 71) wasnt operating??

In which case, 71 would be fuller given there's no 77 i'd say.

Yes, but your original reply was assuming low loads. The one flight that is running has very high loads.

Could it be down to maintenance timetables? Going by the Perth Airport website, both QF72/77 were cancelled, and I have seen the odd A333 service ex-PER cancelled recently (IIRC, QF67/68 was cancelled about 2-3 weeks ago)

I am just trying to take another guess, apart from the low loads guess?:confused:

Yes, becuase there's only one flight instead of two. Hence the remaining flight would be pretty full (as you've posted the loads), as anyone wanting to travel on the other flight now has to be aboard this one.

Two half full flights condensed into one flight = one very full flight.

Am I missing something?:oops::shock::confused:

To propose tweo other options:

1. Has (can?) anyone looked at operating aircraft domestically. QF may have decided there is such high demand between MEL-SYD-BNE and PER-Eastcoast that the 333/332 that is usually allocated to a retrun SIN-PER flight may be better used on heavy demand domestic Ops in the leadup to Xmas, hence why there's no a/c to operate QF77 on 25th.

Is it only the 25th that is missing, because boxing day tends to be a heavy flying day too and you'd think if they pull it from the schedule for 26th as well.

2. A charter wanted an a/c to get them back for xmas and QF have calculated a greater profit from this than a regular ops PER-SIN-PER.

Both these therories are contingent on loads being light if split between QF 71/77 but ok if condensed onto one flight.
