Is this a system glitch or QF does not allow upgrade awards on SYD-NOU? The fare conditions of a Flexi-saver ticket QF91-92 Dec15-21 2013 booked in class K stipulate:
  • Points and Status credits may be earned on this fare
  • Flight Upgrade Awards are not eligible on this fare.Flight Upgrades can only
be redeemed on Qantas operated flights.
  • This fare is classed as Discount Economy when Status credits are earned or
when points are redeemed for a Flight Upgrade Award.

Upgrades are not available to New Caledonia, regardless of fare paid,

Thanks Markis10, good to know. Is this the only "non-upgradable" QF route?

Any route not Operated by Qantas (as in not a Qantas aircraft), is not upgradeable, in your case SYD-NOU is operated by another carrier with a QF flight number.

QF89 ex Brisbane is also QF metal including the odd 767 as well.

I know that. But QF91 is operated by QF on QF metal

Never knew that, I've learnt something new! :) QF obviously do a good job of marketing that route, since I always thought it was just codeshare only!

There are two routes that QF mention in their non skybed caveat - HNL being one and NOU being the other!

Maybe QF only operates the route for a certain DYKWIA AFFer who is not too fond of French speaking crew...
