QFF Award availability only new bookings

Just tried to amend my booking to head overseas. The original booking was CNS-SYD-ADL-KUL. But with the release timing of domestic Qantas flights, the trip to ADL was 7 days before we actually want to leave. Rang today as the fares are now available for the day we want.
But NOOOOOO! "Those fares are only available for new bookings."
What the hell, this never happened to me before. So I hang up. Qantas rings me back, can you believe it?
I hang up again and talk to a different operator. Same answer, no availability.

Yep, that’s been the case for nearly a decade. Availability to change when inside the PNR is different to new bookings

Hobart call center seems to find their way around. Many WP that hit his issue would HUACA until getting hobart to get the flight added.

+1 this has been my experience too.

Originally I booked LAX to SYD on QF as a classic award and wanted to tack on SFO (i.e. the trip would be SFO > LAX > SYD with LAX being a connection). First agent I spoke to told me it simply cannot be done. Called back a day later got a different agent, and sure enough they could add the segment on.
