I’m looking to get a QF points bonus for taking out a new card. Currrntly the Westpac looks best offer I can apply for.

Seems to end 31/1. Shall I apply now or take a chance that better no annual fee/ discounted annual offers will appear in the coming months?

What do people think.

Westpac’s bonus points amounts tend to reduce with reduced/no annual fee.

I presume you are not eligible for anz offers of $0 annual fee in the first year?

Is the earn rate irrelevant as you are only looking at value from the sign up bonus?

Thanks for responding...

Yes already have an ANZ black (which I have just cancelled actually but have to wait 12
Months apparently)

And yes earn rate is irrelevant to me just the sign up bonus..

This is correct, but, the qff and rewards cards are separate. Ie you can hold QFF Black and the Rewards Black at the same time and get bonus points. You can transfer rewards points to various airlines excluding Qantas.

Didn’t know that but I’m chasingtg QF points only wait tjat doesn’t help me...

Your best bet is to just review the credit card promotions pages on this site, there's loads around Current Credit Card Promotions

If you've already got ANZ FF Black and only care about bonus points for the least outlay in annual fee, not the minimum spend there's...

NAB Signature 100k for $395
St George Platinum 60k for $99, Signature 90k for $279
HSBC 60k for $199
Qantas Amex Express Ultimate - 55k for $450 (includes $450 travel credit)
Macquarie Platinum 40k for $99

And then Westpac Black 100k for $250. There's also a direct Amex platinum/black level Westpac card coming out in April - American Express | Westpac - that I suspect will have a similar bonus structure.

Out of that list the St George Platinum, Macquarie Platinum and Westpac Black will all get you 400/$ or more in bonus points, and the Amex Express Ultimate is effectively free if you value the travel credit.

Thanks for your reply.

My query was more about whether better or different offers would start appearing when lots of these offers end on 31/1 or whether I should rush into what there are now.

No idea - generally some offers will improve and some will decrease or disappear - but the quicker you can get a card the quicker you can get the points, cancel it and move on to the next one.
