Hi Everyone,
Just a quick question on how QFF Status Credit works. I read that QFF status credit resets to 0 at the end of every membership year.
Say my membership year starts in Jan 2021, and i finally earned enough SC to become Gold only in Dec 2021. Does it mean I will only hold Gold status for a month before it resets to 0 ??😅😅

Thank you!

Novi

In your example you will be gold until end Dec 2022.

Basically a full year from the end of the membership year you obtain the status.

And any credits you earn between when you get gold and 01 Jan will be for nothing - unless you make platinum.

So ideally, once you get gold in a year, if you can put off trips until your next membership year, that will make requalifying easier. There's no point being 300 over this year and then being 300 short next year - those don't roll over.

If you manage to earn a loyalty bonus within the last three months of your membership year, it's best not to do anything to it (unless you need those to get to gold) - and once your membership resets, then elect to receive the 50SCs - which will apply in your new year - effectively giving you a head start.

Thank you @Hvr
Still on the same scenario, Does it also mean regardless of what month i make Gold, i will be Gold until Dec 2022? For example, i earn enough SC to make Gold in March 2021, when will my Gold status end?

Once you hit gold you keep gold for the remainder of your membership year AND the year after.

Status is always based on your personal membership year, whenever that runs - so March-March, or April-April, etc.

So maxing this out you could get up to 2 years of a higher status if you requalified very early. Note that Qantas also has 'soft' landings, where you drop one tier at a time, regardless of how little you fly. So if you were to make platinum one year but fail to requalify you'd drop to gold for another year, and then silver.

Apart from Loyalty Bonus as you pointed out earned SC's are not "for nothing" - they will also add to the lifetime total. That may not mean much when one is starting out, but it could mean everything if you're near LTS or LTG (and if you're near LTP you'd know this and be in a retirement home musing about the days they had spirits :D )
