Hi All

I've just returned to MEL from BKK on Thai; looks like I'll be travelling from MEL to BKK and PVG quite a bit over the next couple of years. I was doing some quick research before signing up to Thai ROP and am thinking there are maybe better programs?

I'll be travelling business on most trips however if I take the missus the company will only pay for economies; upgrades and or status (for lounge, immigration etc if we do travel econ) would be the most use to me.

It looks like Aegean could be a good option for quick status - although being gold with Qantas I believe it may be possible to get a status match from some programs?

Also would it be possible to claim the points for the trip I've just made? I didn't have time to do this planning/research before booking.

Any advice appreciated... thanks :)

I haven't actually done this BUT if I were in your shoes, I'd draft a very nice letter asking for a status match. I'd send it to a number of *A partners, but specifically target those I'd be most likely to travel with in future. In the letter, I'd explain my current QFF status, my reason for wanting a status match, and a proposal of what travel I would do with that carrier over the next 12/24 months.

You might not get any positive responses but I guess it can't hurt can it? :D

I don’t really look at Star Alliance, but there may be some status match offers around if you look. I’d suggest looking at FlyerTalk or MilePoint, you never know.
