Hi Guys,

I might be off to India next week and it seems the only flights with One World are going to be on Cathay. Now i had a couple of questions as generally my flying has been on QF only...

I'm a FF Gold at the moment.

If I book via Cathay, and they have my FF Number i'll get SC and FF points no prob?

I am gathering that I can't upgrade with points or anything like that if it is a CX flight?

How can i find out the QF codeshare for those flights? and if i did book under Qantas could i use points to upgrade that way?

And lastly, which lounge can i use as a OW sapphire in MEL, HKG and DEL

EDIT: If i transit through HK and there is 12 hours between the flights can i go through immigration and go into town for a few hours?

Cheers,

Nick

Yes, provided booked into one of BHKLMV.

No.

Do a dummy booking on QF website. But you need to be on QF metal to upgrade, so no you wouldn't be able to upgrade.

And lastly, which lounge can i use as a OW sapphire in MEL, HKG and DEL

In MEL, the QF J Lounge or the CX lounge. In HKG, Wing or Pier J Lounge, or QF J Lounge. In Delhi, there is a 3rd party lounge that is variously hired to BA/CX that should be available for use. It is, however, rubbish.

Yes.

Remember that if you are flying in Discount Economy on CX then QFF earning will be at only 0.5 points per mile. In addition you will receive no Cabin Class Bonus miles.

FWIW Qantas metal does fly to India (Mumbai) via Singapore.
FWIW Jet Airways also provide a Qantas FF Points earning option from HKG-DEL

I don't think there is code share for CX/QF flights.

You will be using CX business lounge in all three cities. The one in Mel is small and boring. The one in HK is large and very good. Never been to the one in Del.

Take the airport express train to the city to avoid traffic jam which is very bad in HK. It takes approximately 45min. Shopping at the airport is very good though and given the FX rate it is a lot cheaper than Mel.

As pointed out by Will above, a One World Sapphire member can also use the QF business lounge at MEL (if it is open prior to departure). It's is larger, but probably just as boring.:)

Ahh didn't know about the points earning being 0.5.. Actually i'm only interested in the SC's at the moment though..

Everything with Jet is full at the moment.. have been exploring options. my only other choice was to fly Thai or Emirates, but i have no FF accounts with either.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Beware that Jet Airways is only 0.5 points per mile in Discount Economy as well........
Alternatively, Malaysian airlines is a Velocity Earning option (but they also have reduced rates for Discount Economy) OR
as a last resort Air India is the cheapest and the quickest with a 6hr daily direct flight from 5.20pm - 8.50pm.

If you are mainly interested in Status Credits then CX is your friend. Hate those Y "shell" seats though.

I'd keep pushing for the Jet Airways A330 option myself.

There is nothing there at all.. pain in the butt.. heaps of seats to SIN though... or i could do a QF to HKG then CX to DEL.

The Airport Express takes 24 minutes.

and runs every 12 mins. And costs HK$100 one-way to Hong Kong, but I think its cheaper for a same-day return.

Yep same-day return is actually same prices as one-way, HK$100.
