Was just wondering if you thought my chances are good to get an early comp to Plat?
Currently Gold with 1210 status credits and another 160 booked next week (early April). Will definitely make Platinum based on travel history on 30 June 2011 but wanted to get it early so I can get into the First lounge next week.

Any advice from well seasoned travellers?

If you were Plat already then you might have a chance, but if your gold on the way up, then you won't get it until you hit the required amount..

Upgrade your ticket to F with points or cash and then you'll get into the lounge!

As above - no chance. I was at 1395 SCs and still had to wait for one more flight to push me over!

+1 for not likely. I made WP this week for the first time (thanks to all the advice on this forum!) and I had to fly every single one of those 1400 SCs!

Mine only came through a couple of weeks ago as well, but it is a great feeling when it does!

So that was an 8 people beat down :( But I concur (make it 9 now) there is little to no chance of an early comp up. I wouldnt be surprised to see and early comp to maintain in the future though.

May as well make that 10, if you’re going to fly it anyway, Qantas isn’t looking to give out freebies.

Rest assured though, when you do get it and get in there for your first time, it’ll be that much sweeter!

:( I couldn't even get in after taking my domestic connecting flight to SYD that took me over 1400!

I've only been comped if I was already WP.

After two years in SG I finally made it back to WP on my final day and got the 1400 SC I needed.

In the weeks leading up to and INCLUDING the actual day of flying my final 20 SC sector, I was not comped.

It is very annoying but at least they are being consistant.

Regards
Daniel

Thanks everyone! Looks like it is a no go given the consensus around here :)
Anyway that's fine I will just have to wait a little while longer!

That's true, but I did click over the 1400 SCs one night between SCL and AKL; I was informed of my new status when I landed in Auckland and ushered with that special Platinum Pleasantness into the slightly better lounge to wait for my connection to BNE. So the system was quick to update.

Sometimes the point post while your in the air, other times it takes a few days..

I havent had the issue before, but could imagine if your going to hit the number you need and it doesn't update quick enough before your nest flight..

yep, they didn't budge for me either... I was about 30 sc's short with an itinerary with 7 flights on it to and from SA on it... did not budge an inch...
