Does anyone have any experience regarding earning QFF points and SCs on flights booked using AAdvantage Miles. For a while now, AAdvantage has been using dynamic pricing for award flights on AA (and some partner) flights. So the cheapest AAdvantage award redemption still book into the equivalent of QFF Classic Awards and hence will not earn any credit in either program. However, when booking using the dynamic pricing from AAdvantage, and obviously spending mire AA miles for the booking, the ticker is issues using a regular revenue fare bucket.
I have some AA awards coming up that have been booked in J, I and Y fare classes, as seen in th e"Booking Code" field in the booking confirmation email. And I have my QFF membership number in the booking (rather than AAdvantage number) to ensure lounge access when available and checked bag allowance on the Y-only flights. So is my exception correct that I should also receive QFF points and SCs for these flights that are booked in J (AA flights seated in the domestic First cabin), I (AS flights seated in domestic First cabin) and Y (AA regional jet with economy only configuration)?
The QFF Partner Airlines Earning Table does not seem to discriminate between flighst paid with cash or with other airline miles, just that the fare booking code will reflect the eligibility for earning rates, and J on AA reflects Business earning rate, I on AS reflects Business earning rate, and Y on AA reflects Flexible Economy earning rate.
If points/SCs are earning, then I would not consider this a loophole or an error in my favour, but correct crediting according to the published tables for teh fare type of the ticket. I did spend considerably more AA miles for these dynamically priced fares than woudl have been the case for Classic (Saver) Award type fares. So I assume its a little like booking using QF's Points + Pay option.
Any recent experience with this situation? If so, Mrs NM will go from Bronze to Silver QFF status during teh trip, which was unexpected when I made the booking. Will earn 435 SCs for Mrs NM and 579 SCs for me (as PC+).
