Can someone please burst my bubble.

We use the Caltex Starcard for our fuel purchases on our work fleet. The Woolworth fuel vouchers explicitly exclude the 4c per litre discounts when paying with the Caltex Starcard.

I've been looking at the QFF fuel for points offer. As far as I can see there has not been any exclusion of Starcard purchases.

Last week I swiped the everyday rewards card purchasing fuel on the Starcard. Transaction went through as usual. The transaction on the ervydayrewards.com.au site is still at a status of 'awaiting authorisation'.

Hopefully if it goes through I'll look forward to juggling a fleet of rewards cards clocking up points.

Anyone else seen any movement on the Starcard situation?

Looks like good news for anyone using Caltex Starcard system for their (business) fuel expenses.

Scanning the Everyday Rewards card at the time of making a fuel purchase will result in QFF points being accrued. I checked on my account details and looks like points are underway.

Having been locked out of the discount fuel vouchers for so long becuase of using Starcard, this is quite a development.

allright - how does one achieve this hidden miracle.
I tried it this morning and was told my card could only get the 4c discount and hence couldn't be swiped when using the star fleet card.

Is there some secret handshake i have to do?

The attendant said something about having your W card setup for points and not the 4c?

Thanks

You need to log into your EDR account and opt in to the points option.

so even though i am getting points on groceries etc i still have check that box?

I rang everyday rewards and they said it couldn't be done with the caltex card.

Points on groceries is the standard way it operates and so is getting the 4c discount. Getting points for fuel is an option that is only recent. So yes, you have to select that option to get points for fuel.

allright
i'll give it a go now I've checked the option.

Shame EveryDay rewards dont know anything about it

If there is an inconsistency in the treatment of the cash discount and the points option it is probably better not to ring them up about it.

yeah - it's like all the tricks, loopholes and other benfits that you find.
I also don't want to post all my few little enhancers on the forum in case of blowing it for everyone.

Btw - i have to almost argue with the attendant to get my card swiped evrytime i fill up, they all insist the haven't been told! but it works.

Oh well the only card they don't take is Fleetcard so I miss out. I can't even purchase fuel at Woolworths Caltex stations let alone get a discount.

looks like this nice little earner has come to an end.

Woolworths/Caltex at Brookside QLD will no longer swipe your Qantas card - they have been instructed my management was the answer.

OK, thanks for the feedback. We have been getting a response like:

Attendant: I don't think that Rewards card will work with Starcard.

We say something along the lines of:

Me: It probably wont but can I swipe just to see if it goes through.

.....

On a related but similar topic they have also tightened up on registering multiple cards to the same QFF account. One Everyday Rewards = One QFF Account & vice versa.

I did note that a Everyday Rewards card can share fuel vouchers to other sub-cards but the sub-card purchase points have to go to the QFF associated with the sub-cards.

The effect for me is that probably wont work for my fleet idea as some of the smaller vehicles wil not get above the 5,000 points I would need for a transfer.

Easy to sort ... you simply perform an annual sweep: (http://www.australianfrequentflyer....uestions/family-transfers-6884.html#post84769)
Not a problem with doing that; when Family transfers first came in late November '04 Mrs Serfty had over 5k, mini serfty had 3½K. Shortly thereafter, mini serfty had over 8½K and Mrs Serfty had nil. Not too long after that, they both had zip and my balance increased by over 8½K. ...

There has been another clarification email that has gone around to the Caltex servos. They have been told not to allow the use of the Everyday Rewards card when Starcard is also used as it is mixing "Everyday Rewards" which is 'personal' and Caltex Starcard which is 'business'

I don't argue, I just put it through on my Amex and get the Krisflyer miles as well. I just do an expenses claim from my company.
