Hi Guys,

I just wanted to share my little achievement over the last 7 weeks.

I'll hit QFF Silver with my flight to Melbourne on Monday......... - all domestic travel and mostly el'cheapo flights.:oops::p
Looking at averaging 220SC per month for the next few years on domestic Y and the odd OS trip for good measure. Maybe a J seat every now and again on awards if i can get some points put together.

My points rollover on 31 March so just made the upgrade from Bronze to Silver.

Hope to hit SG by end of June and WP by October :mrgreen::mrgreen:

Cheers
Andrew

Hi Andrew and welcome to AFF!

Well done on getting to PS.. seems you will be WP in no time! certainly no mean feat if most is in disc Y either!

Cheers,

Nick

Welcome to AFF, and the beginning of what looks like a rapid rise in the FF status ranks.

I remember when I first made Silver. I was so happy and proud! Little things like extra baggage and a lounge pass, but they counted for a lot.

At 220SC a month the points will add up fast. There are various strategies for spending them. I think the best value is for upgrades, or points plus pay. I generally use them for RTW Y trips, which are incredible value. The RTW J trips are even better value, but harder to find a useful itinerary.

The resources available here, especially the offers of free advice from some of the more experienced members, are priceless. I am constantly amazed at the knowledge and wisdom on display.

I treat this frequent flyer business as a hobby. Others spend thousands on cars or season tickets or mistresses. I choose to fly and see the world.

Hi Nick, Sprucegoose & Skyring,

Thanks for the well wishes.

On achieving PS is the Qantas club invitation for the year or a one off entry??? please be the year...... :)

I'm looking forward to seeing how the seat allocation changes with the movement of QFF rank. I've read all the stories and see it as 1 of the top two or three reasons to remain loyal to QFF and not just use anyone for the cheapest flight.

I flew from Perth to Sydney on Wednesday and had one of the A330 - even in row 54 they still seem a great plane, hopefully with SG or WP I'll get a few rows forward ........

I did have my first beep beep at the gate last week on a Adelaide to Syd flight - got moved from row "somewhere at the rear" to row 12 first seats after business. Plenty of leg room ( I'm 6'3) and first ones off the flight.

Congratulations, Trebmal!

Unfortunately, the invitation is a one off entry. But if you're planning to be SG in a couple more months, then you'll have access each time you fly :D

If it was for a year, then there'd be little incentive to move up to Gold. Lounge access is THE big bonus of SG.

Some people sell their invites, some people save them for use on an international trip, some use 'em as fast as possible.

I find lounge access best between legs of an international trip. It's fine to get a cup of coffee before a domestic flight or whatever, but if I'm transitting at HKG between two long flights, I really enjoy a shower and some internet and a meal in the Wing.

If you're already silver & earning 220 SC per month you'll be SG in a couple of months which includes a year of access to the Qantas Club.

If you have points to burn you could book some JASA (Business Any Seat Award) seats and earn status credits at Business Class rates for those flights which would get you to SG quicker. (Don't confuse this with "Classic Award" seats which do NOT earn status credits)
