Hi All

I have a Citi Platinum Visa and I am wondering whether I made a mistake in paying the $49 fee to link to my QFF account?

When I check a Qantas PER-SIN return redemption on QFF, it is 50,000+taxes. On Citi Take Flight it is only 30,795+taxes! Why would anyone transfer to their points to their QFF account when redemptions are cheaper using Citi Rewards points?

Am I missing something?

No, that is the conclusion I came to also and did not take the QFF option.

I think it depends on where you wish to go on points.
We use more of our QF points running from PER to MEL and SYD.
If you want to do runs to Asia there are heaps of LCC carriers with cash prices that make your points very low value in redemption.
Getting almost 40 percent off is very attractive compared with QF.
I have been going to SIN and LAX on Kris points out of PER so that is why I chose the Kris redemption on my Citi card.
Others keep their points with Citi so there is no time clock running on a 3 year expiry.

cove - when you say it depends on where you wish to go on points, are you talking about the taxes and charges? In terms of taxes and charges, I was wondering whether they are identical for a redemption on QFF versus a redemption on Citi Take Flight for the exact same itinerary.

I have checked a 3 flight itineraries and it seems all 3, PER-HKG return (Cathay), PER-SIN (Qantas) and PER-SYD (Qantas), require less points, excluding taxes and charges on Citi Take Flight than QFF.

I should have checked this before linking my QFF account to my Citi Rewards for $49! :(

Anyone know whether I can pick and choose when to transfer points to QFF with a Citi Platinum Visa card? It says it will automatically transfer at the end of each cycle. Damn...

You could see if you could get a second card at a discount from Citi or get them to re-issue your card.
The taxes and fees seem to be SQ highest,QF next highest then Citi but I haven't studied everything.
QF version of Citi does transfer those points to your account every month automatically.
