Anyone have any inside tips why QFi would today, fly a 330 from ADL - SIN.
I saw a large plane dep about lunch time ADL time, and I knew that the QR one from ADL - MEL - DOH had already gone.
Had a look at the Adelaide Airport website, and saw, *oh joy*, a QF303.
Any tips.
Could our dreams be about to become a reality, that QF have comes to its senses and are training their pilots to do this route, and just possibly, that there will be a regular ADL - SIN flight with QF again.
OR dream on.
Thanks.

Don't get excited - definitely not training (pilots don't need to do route training)

It repositioned from SYD as QF6001 which is the range for ferries and charters, so the 303 is just a continuation of that (using <400 as the convention for international flights).

So really could be anything. Anzac Day charter perhaps?

Not enough spare aircraft to do another route.
But QF303 is a charter flight number,

QF300-329 are adhoc charters
QF330-349 government charters

It was operated by VH-QPA which turned around to operate SIN-MEL as QF36. On the other hand, the inbound QF35 MEL-SIN was operated by VH-QPG which turned around to operate SIN-SYD as QF6014.

I think that it is probably something to do with the current Australasian tour by Pink. She has been in Perth for a few days and has a concert in Dunedin on the 5th March.

And I still recall the bagging that then Premier Colin Barnet got when he proposed the building of Optus Stadium, where Pink performed. The stadium has been regularly packed out for a wide variety of sport or entertainment since it was built.

The pilots don’t need to be trained. QF could schedule regular 380 services tomorrow, and the pilots would be immediately ready.

I recall the days when we flew a lot out of Adelaide in the 767. I always got the feeling that the only reason anyone wanted QF there, was so that they could get competitive prices from someone else.

I guess that QF is doing freighter A330s into and out of ADL, ie, non RPT, on Tues.
About 11.30am.
Have checked flight aware and flight radar, from MEL and SYD about that time, and lo listings.
All are still 737s.
