I'm being flown to the US for an interview but the lab that is hosting my visit has a fly US airlines policy... I am QP PS , if they buy an AA ticket for me which will (of course) send me on QF metal do I get lounge access?

Thanks,
Scott

Yes I have read that but this bit gets me confused

*** Marketed and operated means a flight operated by the same airline whose flight number appears on your ticket. Includes American Airlines® or British Airways operated flights with a 'QF' flight number on your ticket.

If they buy through AA will it be AA7349 of QF93 on my ticket? And if it is AA7349 and on the QF a380 is that marketed by AA but run by QF and not allowed?

LAX TBIT is a QF lounge so this rule applies (sadly):

next onward flight that day must be on a Qantas, British Airways or Jetstar flight number.

It is worth a shot though to try to access the lounge...

Um, he should have access by virtue of being a paid QP member

Bugger.. so there is no AA J lounge in TBIT... Hmmm having lounge access is pretty much a must before a 15 hour flight (after flying from ORD)

Hold all your horses!

As a QP member, the OP will have A/C and/or QF J lounge access before travel any AA flight number on AA or QF metal!

In relation to TBIT there are no scheduled flights to/from this terminal on AA metal. In LAX all scheduled AA flights operate from T4 or the AeAgle terminal.

The OP will have access to the combined T4 AC/QP before their AA flights. (Don't forget to get your complimentary drink voucher(s))

Also, access will be available in the TBIT J lounge before any flights from there on QF metal and AA/QF flight number (Also, BA - but leave that out of it).

BTW, I do presume the OP is referring to USA airlines in general (of which AA is one, rather than "US Airlines" which is one in it's own right).

If you are arriving from ORD on AA, then you arrive into T4. You can visit the AA lounge at T4 and then just head over to TBIT in time to get through security and board the flight.

I suppose that is better than nothing... where do AA J passengers go who are traveling on QF94 on an AA BP?

I do not see the problem - as a QP member or as a J passenger, you would have access to the TBIT O/W J lounge!

See my post #7.

Also, as per NM, you would have access to the T4 QP/AC if inbound into T4. However, I would not waste my time at the T4 A/C if the TBIT J lounge was beckoning.

I don't see the problem either :confused::confused:

Good.... It would make perfect sense if there was not problem... I just wanted to check before telling the guys in the US it was ok to send me on AA....

AA J passengers can use the Qantas/BA lounge at TBIT. This is a OneWorld benefit for Business and First Class passengers on a OneWorld marketed and operated flight.

But assuming you are travelling in Y, this will not apply to you.

As a J passenger, yes, he would have access to TBIT lounge. But as a Qantas Club member travelling in Y on an AA flight number operated by Qantas, technically he would not have access to the TBIT lounge.

A Qantas Club member would have access to that lounge only if departing on a QF or BA flight number.

If flying on an AA flight number, he has access to an AA lounge.
Qantas said:
+next onward flight that day must be on a Qantas, British Airways or Jetstar flight number.
As he is on a AA flight number, he does not have access to Qantas lounge, only to AA lounge.
I don't see the problem either :confused::confused:
Are you assuming he OP is travelling in J class?

The question is: IS the OW lounge a AC lounge for the purposes of access? What about A/C members flying AA Y from TBIT?

The OW TBIT lounge is a joint effort by Qantas, BA and CX.

It is certainly a designated Qantas lounge; see here:

I know of at least 2 separate occasions where a QP member travelling WHY on QF flights numbers who had access to the TBIT J lounge, along with their (non status) partners.

I know of at least 2 QP members travelling WHY on QF flights numbers who had access to the TBIT J lounge, along with their (non status) partners.

Make that three; I have previously used the oneworld TBIT J lounge when travelling in WHY on QF as a QP PS member.

Poeple may have gained access but that is no guarantee of access.

The QF lounge access website for QF lounges for QP sys:

Member and 1 guest can access lounge on day of departure.+
Guest must be travelling with member.

The + relates to:

+next onward flight that day must be on a Qantas, British Airways or Jetstar flight number.

I am not sure what is ambiguous here.

But as Serfty quoted:

When you arrive at a lounge, show your Qantas Club card, or your Platinum or Gold Frequent Flyer card with your ticket or boarding pass
In this case, how would they know what flight number your travelling on?
