Hi all,

Flying again today and contemplating not lugging the laptop around with me and relying on iThings only.

But might need to access word.

Can you edit documents in MS Word on the QP computers?

Can you save & email word docs using them?

I believe so (boot into Windows of course).

I employ a USB and have been able to edit files successfully - (just don't plug it into the Keyboard sockets - won't work and causes OS exceptions!)

given qantas.com.au is down yet again today, I suspect they're still running Windows 95, on a couple of rebuilt Pentium 90's they got from a hard rubbish collection.

I use office2 HD on my iPAD, it allows you to manipulate/ edit etc office documents including word and excel. From memory it set me back less than $10 and means I can travel without the lap top.

If in doubt, use Google Docs perhaps?

You shouldn't need to boot into Windows. Office for Mac (built by MS) is very similar in usage and functionality to Office for Windows. I think the box is a different colour. Oh and I think they killed the Ribbon! Obviously this requires QF to have purchased Office for Mac licenses as well as Office for Windows.

I am intrigued by the USB issues. I can't see why it should cause an issue.

+1 if only simple editing required time to switch to the cloud :)

im loving the google drive app on my android phone, can access all my uni docs quickly and easily then seamlessly switch to edit mode and make notes on my phone

The USB's work fine if you use one of the sockets on the back of the screen - the issues happen with the one's on the keyboards.

I use Firefox portable quite happily on these things ...
