It's a sad day when someone based in QAN's SYDneycentric HQ city, isn't able to justify loyalty to QFF (oh, well, AA is still 1W though, with a small Emerald/Sapphire FL/AC NA itinerary downcard [upcard of course is NA + system-wide bonus upgrades] ...)simongr said:...I am sorely tempted to get WP - and if they were doing kerbside check in for WP then it would be a definite for to go WP as well as EXP...

Assuming you are on a AY flight to HEL, you will be departing from Terminal 2 Schengen area you will not have access to the BA lounge (non-Schengen area). AY use the Air France lounge in the Schengen area of Terminal 2, and that will be your only lounge choice for an AY flight to HEL.simongr said:08 Jul 06:00 - 11:00 FRA (not sure which lounge to go to??)
AY have two lounge at HEL, one in the Schengen area and one past immigration in the non-Schengen area. You can visit the Schengen lounge first and then later pass through immigration processing and visit the other lounge. The two lounges are similar and reasonably basic as far as food and beverages are concerned.simongr said:08 Jul 14:00 - 16:00 HEL (again no idea on lounge)
BA has a Terraces lounge at DXB and is going to be your best option (if not your only option). CX uses the BA lounge at DXB and their flight is in the evening anyway.simongr said:21 Jul 08:00 - 09:00 DXB (not sure on lounge)
There is no longer an Flagship Lounge at JFK, just an AAdmirals Club lounge. The only Flagship lounges left in the AA network are at LAX (thanks for QF paying for much of the construction and operation), Chicago and LHR T3.simongr said:29 Jul 09:20 - 11:00 JFK AC - as I dont have an int'l flight for well over 24 Hours I am assuming I cant get into the Flagship lounge. The only OneWorld F lounge at DFW is the BA lounge at Terminal D. You will need to have OneWorld Emerald to try it. I just use the AAdmirals Club lounge and use my QF card to get some drinks vouchers. I have not tried to use the BA lounge and it is only open for a few hours before the BA flight departure which I think is somewhere around 3pm.simongr said:29 Jul 14:00 - 16:20 DFW F lounge (going to be worth a shot)
JL depart from JFK Terminal 1 and will have their own lounge facilities there, so no option for other lounges.simongr said:30 Jul 06:00 - 13:00 JFK - flying JAL so no idea where I will be

I walked past the old DFW Flagship Lounge location on the concourse in Terminal A last week.simongr said:... That really surprises me. I know that DFW is the hub but surely most int'l flights depart from JFK?. ...
I would not bother. The AC at FRA is very basic and its at terminal 1 so you need to change terminals. The only food is bread rolls with jam or cream cheese and some basic fruit selection. The beverages are also basic. You might as well stick to the AY lounge as it can't be any worse.simongr said:I had been told that I could go airside and use the Admirals Club. I have five hours and at costs want to avoid an AirFrance lounge.
I think you will find that AA has more international departures from ORD and DFW than from JFK. They used to have Flagship lounges at BOS and MIA as well, but they have all closed in the last few years, with only ORD, LAX and LHR remaining.simongr said:That really surprises me.
