Question about Upgrade me rules

If I book an itinerary as Velocity Gold with 4 passengers (the other three are Red members), can I use my own points to upgrade 2 passengers only (who are not Velocity Gold) on a long-haul international service? Or does the person being upgraded also have to be Gold? I know it's a strange situation but I can't find the answer anywhere.

Hi UAinAUS, providing there is availability on your particular flight, you can use Points to upgrade yourself and guests (non Platinum or Gold) travelling on the same booking as you.

Thanks Velocity, but is it possible to upgrade with points the two Red Members who are on my booking, but not myself (I am the Gold Member)?
