First of all, English is not my first language I apologize in advance for my poor English.
This is my first post after have been visited this website for long. You guys are great. I have couple questions about Qantas membership status.

Q1. This is just an example. I am QF Gold status and require another 60 SCs to attain Platinum. If my status reassessment date is 31 Dec 2009, I will fly with Jetstar on Star Class from Melbourne to Bangkok on 31 Dec 09. The problem is normally Jetstar takes about 14 working days (many times up to 30 days) to credit the points and SCs back to the account after claim the missing point. By the time that I receive the points, let’s say 14 Jan 10, my SCs will be reset to 0 already.

Will Qantas give me Platinum status on this case?

Q2. I am optimistic. Let’s say I become Platinum on 14 Jan 10. If I have to travel on 20 Jan 10 before receiving the new membership card, can I get in to the First Class Check in counter and First Class Lounge without the Platinum card?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

1. Yes you’ll get Platinum status, but you’ll be Gold for the first half of the month until the SC’s filter through, and then they’ll bump you up.

2. If your online status has been updated to reflect your new Platinum status you could print out a copy of the page online for proof, and your status would be printed on the ticket after check-in, allowing you to use the lounge without the card.

Make sure you keep your *Class BP.

The process has become much better in recent times, but sometimes the points do not post automatically; if so you'll need to put in a claim.
