Just wondering how QF status tiers work when you don't earn enough SC to maintain your current tier. E.g. If gold but don't make the 250 SC for silver, would I drop down one rung to silver or all the way down to bronze?

Thanks for your help!

Solution
Just drop one level, so to silver. If you're close to gold could be worth hanging onto as there isn't a lot of difference between silver and bronze.
How many status credits are you short of and when is your current tier due to expire?

Not there yet, my year has just ticked over so I'm considering if chasing status this year is worthwhile. I intend flying J or PE where I can. My partner has already attained points club and I'll get there this year. I have a couple of domestic trips coming up but would need a status run to get to gold.

There’s an easy 50 SCs available with QF Green Tier if you’re prepared to forgo about 3300 pts and ~$17. See my post #657:

Whilst you can knock all these over in ~48 hrs, the trick is to hold off on one (eg the “Give Back“ donation) until a month or so from the end of you’re status year. You can then either take the 50 SCs in your current year (to get you over line) or take it at the start of the new status year for a 50 SC head start.

at a "cost" of only 3300 points and $17, even the additional +6700 miles is an amazing deal for those who have no need for the 50 SC's.
