I hope they do not strike. It is a one hour walk from Spring Hill to Toowong. If buses and citycat are not on strike then I had better purchase a 1-2 zone weekly this week just in case.

Not too good. I do hope they don't go on strike. ('specially Feb 21)
No problem we just use Coachtrans. Direct pick up and drop off at hotel rather than walking to the train station. ;)

Thanks for the heads up, now which day would I prefer?
Monday is when I arrive but with no time constraints so making my way into town wont matter if it takes awhile.

Whereas on Wednesday I will finish work and have to rush back to the AP and jump on a plane to TVL.

If they must do it then Monday looks like the go. :(

Any idea what this industrial action is about?

Any idea what this industrial action is about?

Working hours mainly. QR is wanting train drivers to work 26 Sundays per year instead of 18 (or something like that).

There's further discussions happening, so the strike/s may not happen. Should know more later this week...

If planning to catch the Airtrain, assuming the strikes go ahead, then the following contingency plan is in place:

Brisbane's Airtrain - Industrial Action Contingency Plan
Passengers planning to travel to or from Brisbane Airport on Monday 16 and Wednesday 18 February are advised a contingency plan is in place should train services cease as a result of the industrial action:

* A half hourly bus service will run from Robina and Helensvale train stations to the Airport.

* A half hourly bus service will run from Roma St Station to the Airport.

* Inter-terminal bus transfers will run every 10 minutes from 5.45 - 10.00am then every 20 minutes until 8.00pm.

* All passengers that have pre-booked with Airtrain will be transferred to their destination by bus or taxi. Airtrain has contacted these passengers to inform them of these changes.

* Coachtrans and taxi operators have been advised to expect busier services.

Someone at work today mentioned that it is not only train services on strike but buses and rivercat services. Is this correct?

cough.. This will make getting around even harder. I normally get a cab, but they'll be scarce and extra traffic won't help! damm damm damm!!!

Thank goodness. I really wasn't looking forward to trying to navigate the streets of BNE in a taxi.

Good news.

It would have been interesting to see if I could walk faster than the cars driving along Coronation Drive if the train strikes did go ahead. ;)
