I was a bit surprised to find just now that Qantas has J reward seats on QF5 PER-FCO on several dates over the next month.

Get in quick if you want to book a last-minute business class trip to Italy using your Qantas points ;)

There are also a few PE seats.

I can't see any J seats coming back, from FCO-PER, but there is PE on a few dates in August.

Qantas I T must be broken if they are releasing a J seat internationally!!
No, I'd say loads drop off a bit at the end of the summer season. School holidays are over and fewer people want to be in Italy in August when everything is shut down because all the Italians are on holiday.

And Qantas are doing a lot more last minute reward availability on all the big international routes. Seen a lot of last minute First on the SYD-LAX route recently.

What’s bizarre is the lack of whY seats on a lot of routes. You can find J but zero whY. 🤷‍♂️

Not that I want whY but it’s odd. Checkout CGK for example…

Noticed similar this week for flights to the US, but availability is limited almost entirely to the next few weeks. After that, it's virtually nothing.

Call me a cynic, but I'm increasingly convinced that QF is going to continue to withhold premium availability deliberately so they can announce a dump of them as a PR move the next time something really goes haywire, like they've done a few times over the last 24 months.

(Aside: I did manage to snag SFO - NAD - SFO entirely on FJ's 350 in J next June. There's still availability on a few other days, in case anyone is planning that far ahead.)

Indeed, once you look at the loads, you can see why. J is dead empty on some of these days. Rest of the plane isn't looking so flash either:

Interesting given they've just confirmed PER-FCO coming back in 2024.
