Hi

Is there a known issue with re-printing a Virgin Australia boarding pass? I tried to print one last week using Chrome - the print failed, and there seemed to be no way of re-printing. Tonight, a friend who I bought a DJ ticket for had an issue where his printer was out of toner - and he was unable to reprint.

What gives? With a QF boarding pass, you print a PDF, so can print as many times as you like. You can also go through the checkin progress multiple times if required - each time generating a new PDF.

Surely it isn't beyond the wit of man (or Virgin) to allow reprinting of a boarding pass? Or am I missing something?

With QF BP's i always save them to my computer as a PDF so if ever a issue i can get it back up and send it to them.

I would make a call or just go out to the airport and they will sort it all out.

You can only go through the Virgin check in process once. At the end of it you get the option to print that then brings up a separate window (on my set up) and uses my usually printer dialogue. At that point I can print to printer or to PDF*. Once finished with the printing bit, you then click finish (or something) and it then takes you to another page from which you get a chance to reprint. That is it with Virgin, if you don't get a BP from that process you then need to front at the desk at the airport.

Just go to the desk at the airport and ask for a BP explaining that the print out didn't work.

I sometimes check in (online) with Virgin and then ask them to print me a BP (at the priority desk/lounge).

*Easy on a Mac or using Adobe or CutePDF (for example) on a win box.

medhed has pretty much summed up the problem. Unfortunatly, you can't reprint boarding passes once you have initally checked in, even at a kiosk at the airport.

This irks me the most, because I usually checked on the go at T-24 and then print my boarding pass at the airport. But I can't do this on Virgin, I have to go find someone at the service desk.

Even more frustrating when you realise you can't pre-select a seat until -24, so if you check in at the airport, you usually won't get your prefered seat.

With my knees, well height, I buy DJ Blue Zone seating when I book the flight/s. That always gives me Exit Row seating, even if I can't select which exit row seat until T-24. Like medhead I also always do a PDF print for all on line BPs and flight itineraries, so lack of DJ BP re-printing is not an issue for me.

So sometimes when I'm away I don't always have easy access to a printer.

So it's not too much hassle if I say check in online to choose my seat, but purposely neglect to print out the BP?
Then I'll head to the check in counter to have them reprint me a BP.

I've thought about doing that, and regret not doing so. On a redeye DRW flight 100% loading, ended up with 28F ... I mean comeon I was even traveling on a flexi fare.

Thanks for the pointers. The failure with Chrome may just be a conflict with the browser and the website - the printer was fine, but something went wrong with Chrome putting the boarding pass into the print queue.

It never occurred to me to print to a PDF or equivalent, since there is no problem re-printing with QF, but I'll make sure I do this in the future.

Hope DJ fix this, as being able to run through the check-in process more than once makes it possible to improve the seat closer to departure time (at least on QF).

Sometimes with an early am flight, I'll change my seat from an aisle to a window if I've slept badly, something else that's useful about having more than one check-in / boarding pass generation.

The Newskies system has a PDF boarding pass option, but they obviously choose not to enable it, DJs OLCI has barely advanced from the openskies days.Newskies offers alot of new features, of which they have barely used any, which might indicate that they are still considering dumping it for Amedus...Although TT/JQ have been using newskies for months now quite successfully.
