Hi

I tried booking a return ticket from PER to Jakarta.

The fare info says the Red E Deal ticket can be upgraded using FF points. I always thought that Red E Deal tickets could not be upgraded.

hmmmm... any ideas? Maybe this is only for PER to CGK?

thanks

Domestically, red-e-deals are not upgradeable. On international sectors they do seem to use some booking classes that allow upgrades.

It is the booking class that determines the ability to upgrade, so really you would need to find out what the class is.

The Qantas T&C are specific; N, O & Q classes are the WHY fare classes that can't be upgraded.

T&C Definitions said:
'Restricted Fare' means any Qantas fare ticketed in N, O or Q class, which includes some Qantas Red e-Deals;
T&C Upgrades said:
15.1.3 Flight Upgrades are not available when travelling on Restricted Fares or on Codeshare Flights. Flight Upgrades may be requested only on a paid, confirmed and ticketed Qantas domestic or international flight booking on a service operated by Qantas, with a Qantas flight number.

Unless it is a LAN Chile operated QF code share as I found out once when flying to AKL

I have, it just cost me 16K instead of 10K for SYD-WLG.

That is not an exception to the rule.

Since the QF codeshare flight is operated by Lan Chile, it is ineligable under the rule to be upgraded

While it was some time ago, the nice lady I spoke to at QFF said Lan Chile was the only OW partner you could use QFF points to upgrade on.
