Hey guys,

What is your experience with obtaining the Gold card while overseas?

My status credits are going to click over 700 when I fly into New York and I'd like to take advantage of the lounge access while flying domestically within the US.

I've read elsewhere here that the "lounge dragons" usually don't look up your status online and instead rely entirely on the card, so is there any way to obtain the card immediately? If I have to wait 2-3 weeks to get it, I'll potentially lose lounge access for 4 flights!

Cheers

PS Sorry if this has been answered adequately already. I couldn't find it!

Happened to me. I did a print out from the Qantas site and explained it only ticked over a few days prior.
They let me in on the print out.

From my experience with American Airlines:

Under normal circumstances your equivalent OneWorld status will be printed on your boarding pass. This is usually sufficient proof for lounge entry.

However, your circumstances are similar to mine. I first attained gold status whilst in the US. This wasn't reflected on my boarding passes for my domestic flights however. There was one particular check-in agent who seemed to recognise that my status wasn't printing on my boarding pass, so she removed my QFF number from the booking and re-added it, then gave me a new boarding pass with the status printed on it. You could try asking them to do this.

Failing that, I would definitely be armed with a print-out of your QFF summary page (and maybe even your recent activity history).

I also once turned up to an American Airlines lounge without my QFF card and they seemed to be able to look up my status somehow on the computer. This seemed to be a not-so-easy task for them though - I got the feeling that not all staff knew how to do it, so you're probably better off just being armed with as much proof as possible.

Same for me, new status on bp, no issues accessing lounge.Check your bp before heading off from check in, if it's not on the card, get them to remove your ff from the booking and re-add it. Should be no hassles then getting in lounge.
