we're a couple going to London in October.
Despite many, many hours on the dratted internet we still cannot find a hotel that is both reasonably priced, close to a tube, in a safe area and cleam (OK, so thats more than 'both' but its my post OK).

Been looking around the East side; Bethnel Green, Aldgate sort of area.

Our budget is max 100 quid per night, and we are staying 6 nights. We're members of various programs (Rydes, Priority guest, Accor, etc) but they seem to be quite dear.

Can any one assist with some suggestions? I know our budget is probably too low but I can't see the sense in spending 300 bucks to sleep (as we will be doing the Joe Tourist thing and out all day) and the missus wants to be closer then further to london.
I don't mind a train ride as long as the train is not half hour from my digs.

I’ll leave this for the London accomm experts, of which I am not one. However the first question they will likely ask is whether a “quid” or a “buck” is equal to one AUD or one GBP? :)

Have you tried looking on Wotif?

If I search for the whole of London with a max price of £100, a ton of hotels pop up. It’s then just a case of weeding through them and picking out the ones you’d like to explore further.

Have you looked at the Intercontinental Hotels Family & Friends :

Crowne Plaza Hotel LONDON Hotels | LONDON-ST.JAMES | Welcome

This hotel is currently under 100!

Also if you dont mind the burbs this suburban hotel is available for $60USD a night:

http://www.holidayinn.com/hotels/us...I&hotelCode=LONET#Local-City-Guide-Directions

Its on what is known as points breaks which is a reward night for only 5000 points, you can buy that amount for $60 USD, but these tend to go quick so you would need to move to secure a room.

thanks. Quid is pounds, buck is AUD$$.

Never thought of wotif.

I'll get SWMBO to further look.

I visited London a few weeks back with my wife and two kids. Used Bookings.com and ended up at Blackheath (near Greenwich) for about PDS120 per night compared with PDS300 to PDS400 per night for inner London. From Blackheath is PDS6 per adult and PDS2 per kid for all day ticket that works on overground train, underground and buses. Takes about 25mins on train to Victoria or Charing Cross. PDS400 - PDS120 - PDS14 = Good saving per day.

When are you going, I did a quick look at the IC Family and Friends rates for the 18th October on, to be frank at 80 odd pounds its good value considering the location!

You must get a better deal than me. I did the same search and ended up with 118.69 to 358 pounds.

Not sure where the family & friends rate is. Any hints? Or you wanna book the room form 12 October to 18 and I'll lob you a slab for the efforts?

Do a google on family and friends, or checkout the flyertalk.com thread:

IHG Hotels - Friends and Family Promotion - FlyerTalk Forums

If you use the link provided you will get a good rate, no points etc and must be booked and paid for in advance. I am seeing 106 for your dates, but there is a stack of options listed. Its perfectly legitimate and all you need to do is print out the coupon!

Hi smckay,
Best wishes for your travels to London.

For the UK, the Intercontinental Group, via their loyalty program called Priority Club, have a booking page which will often give 2 nights for the price of 1 at some of their properties, including in London. I have just searched for a 2 night stay starting Oct 14th for 2 people, and there were many properties available around 60 pounds or less plus vat per night. I will try and post the link below. In addition, if you read up on the Priority Club program, you may find you can earn a few extra points via promotions. (Smile Thingy).

Best of luck, John.

mmmm sorry, the website will not let me post the link. Perhaps someone who can post the link could pm me, and I will get you to post it.Thanks.

I stayed recently at the Park Grand in Paddington. ~5 minute walk to Paddington Station, and plenty of eating options in the area. Only opened a few months ago.

If booked through their website free breakfast included (I did not, saved plenty on the room rate booking through a third party, but missed the breakfast).

I'll state now it was the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in (I booked a single), but it had all the usual amenities (incl. digital flatscreen TV, free wi-fi, a good air-conditioner, and a comfy bed).

It appears to be available in or about your price range, just check the hotel website (for the breakfasts), and third-party sites to compare prices.

THANKS! I need to work out how I can see these offers through my profile. Still a mine field though lots more hours needed it seems

All you need to do is click on the link, and go through step 1-3.

The one above didn't work for me, so try this: http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/6c...yfVA8%3D&cm_mmc=DCE-_-FF-_-20090216-_-AM26648

Thats for family and friends, the one above (IDEX1) is the 2 for 1, but you need to book it in lots of two nights! I would go for this if its close as it earns points as well, 5-7 nights in the UK at 100 pounds a night should add up to a stack of points you can use elsewhere.

Check out Priority Club Insider for all the promos etc
