Thinking of an end of year trip to Perth as I've never been.

Looking at hotel options and being HH diamond, naturally looked here. I see varying reports of old world charm for this hotel but then read that the hotel is undergoing renovations. So I have some questions for this that have been there recently...

Anyone experience the change? What's it like now?

If I booked the basic room, what are experiences with upgrades?

Do they fit rollaways into the *giant* suites (84 Sqm from their description)?

Do you get full brekky in the restaurant as Diamond or just continental?

Thanks!

Full brekky.

Really povo on the upgrades but that seems to be just me. Stayed at least twice as Diamond, no upgrade either time.

No exec lounge, overall the place is poor value for money to me.

But- others love it, get much better upgrades and I have not seen it post renovation, not am I even sure the renos have finished

I stay there a few times a year when I visit Perth. It was already a good hotel before the refurbishment and is much better after.
As diamond I always get upgrades, just last week got one from the most basic room to a Premier Suite.
The full breakfast at the restaurant is fantastic, on par with Hilton Brisbane.
The only downside is the lack of an executive lounge which can be a real bummer if you are traveling alone and don't know anyone in town. On the upside, the restaurant offers a very good (albeit not cheap) dinner.
All in all I highly recommend this hotel.
