Recent Experiences with QF’s new terminal transfer at SYD

The answer is fairly self-explanatory. PAX don't clear security in T1 anymore, which means there's no point driving them airside as they would still need to be dropped off landside at T3. Additionally, there may be some security issues with a non-screened pax on active taxiways. Educated guess.
For the last sentence - no, not at all. That’s not a thing.

But yes, if the route is quicker via landside routes than airside, yes, that would explain it.

So confused…

seamless lite…

following the light… or was that the sun?

that light coming towards us… end of the tunnel or another train!? (I’m pretty sure this week it’s been the latter)

Back in the days when I was at PR skool one of the golden rules was to ‘call something by what it does’… you know, so that the name let people know what you were offering or selling.

‘Seamless Lite’ sez what exactly?

‘Seamless Lite’ sez what exactly?
Lite on being a full service airline compared to pre CV19 (~2019)

Whats does Lite mean?
The definition of lite is a slang term for light that means having less substance than something else. An example of something lite is a lite soda that has fewer calories than regular soda.

Lite is an informal variant of light, usually used as an adverb meaning “containing less of an ingredient,” or “being less complex.”

Anyone know if you can get a QF domestic boarding pass at T1? People do arrive at T1 with separate tickets for AU domestic flights

Online check-in?
Not every one will have the QF app or ability for on line connection.
From another thread (kiosk thread)-->"Of the ~200 people waiting at the gate, ~75 lined up to wait for the poor gate attendant to issue them with new BPs."

No issues with Dom>Int this Saturday arrived at 5 past 11am and was advised the next bus leaves at 11:30

The gate agent advised, that we were normally not eligible for this transfer as we were on a codeshare flight, but she makes an exception as the bus isn’t full…
Sounds a bit funny because at check in in MEL we were told to use the transfer.

Was very busy this morning at 7 am. Free for all with no obvious queue

Had our direct lax to Mel cancelled and now have to deal with this transfer tomorrow, at a similar time to you. Don’t suppose there was separate J baggage drop off point?

Do you mean the Premium check-in counter ? If I remember correctly, there is no J/Premium bag drop machine. All use the same ~12 machines in the Dom terminal (& another ~10 machines in International connection) There is, however, the premium check-in counter, where you can get your onward dom BP and drop your bag, BUT, with the crowds like these, my guess is, it will take over an hour even in the premium queue.

My experience last week in MEL - ~40 mins in J queue to drop off bags for dom connecting after international.

At MEL domestic there is an "internationa; connections" checkin area wuich has a "priority:" line for F/J/elites; usually much quicker than the regulat priority line.

Basically there was a period earlier this year when the T1 domestic transfer was closed.

Some are saying the transfer desk has reopened. Some saying not.

I reckon ring the airline. Officially the T1 to T3 is called “seamless lite”.

I flew LHR-SYD-CBR yesterday, a Qantas staff was checking if customer already had a boarding pass or not. Those with boarding pass would just drop their bag at the first counter. Other passengers (not sure what inbound flight they took) would be directed to the other counters to get their BP.

Having to transfer landside, and clear security in busier lane is a small enhancement. Not bad enough to complain though. I got lucky and got the bus just before it left.

I wonder - considering SYD is due for renovated domestic lounges - whether they will build a premium entry like they did in Brisbane.

If they do - the new arrangements for international connections would be better than the previous - where you drop your bag, jump on the bus which takes you right to the lounge entry door. Do security within the lounge.

Not every one has lounge access. (most do not).
Cannot see QF running 2 bus's T1 to T3: lounge accessible and lounge less.

Have you seen the BNE premium entry?

It's literally right next to the regular security line.
