Hi AFF Brains Trust,

I was thinking a thread with recent experiences on timeframes for awarding bonuses could be helpful, such as for people chasing points for a certain date for points club/plus or if they have a certain redemption in mind. It can be helpful to know where lived experience is different to the processes or T&Cs, especially when people are applying at a different bank for the first time.

As you can see my experiences are a bit out of date!

Suggested info (quote table if helpful):
  • Issuer/Product
  • Criteria
  • Statement/Month met criteria
  • Statement/Month bonus points awarded / Swept
  • The year of the experience, plus any notes, issues or follow ups required if they weren't awarded correctly or automatically
Please add your recent experience and follow if you think this would add value!

Applied and approved for Amex Qantas Business Rewards Card in June 2023. $3k spend in 2 months for 150,000 points. Did the spend within the first month and points hit the Qantas Business FF account almost immediately (unfortunately this doesn’t count towards points club). As a side note card was approved based on info input in to online application and Amex didn’t ask for any verification of income etc. Just needed to be ABN and GST registered (would suggest ABN needs to have been registered for a few years). This might be slightly off-topic (apologies if it is), if you have one white-label CC (used to managed by Citi but now managed by NAB), which is listed as either "NAB" (Clear Score) or "Partner NAB Ltd" (Credit Savvy), does that mean that if you sign up for another white-label CC (or a NAB CC), that you won't get the bonus points upon meeting the spend criteria?

Amex Qantas UltimateReferral offer - 75k Qantas points for Referrer (with 3k spend in 90 days), 20k for referee (Ended 31 October 2023)Second statement periodA few days before end of second statement period (with points from second statement period)Generally appears in amex points tally as soon as spend criteria met, then sweeps a few days before the next statement.
First sweep/statement was about 2 weeks after first transaction.
$450 travel credit appeared in account a few days after first transaction settled.
Credit check occurs early in application process, before a credit limit is selected.
Bankwest Qantas Platinum40k bonus qantas points first year ($3k spend 90 days) / 10k second yearFourth statement period, ~65 days after opening cardMiddle of fourth statement period, with regular points sweep in a week into the month.First statement was only a week long.
Bankwest seem to credit points around the payment due date each month, but based on all points earned to that point, instead of the last statement balance. This can cause some confusion, in conjunction with the tiered earn rate (per statement period).
