From November 1 Citibank are introducing a $2 paper statement fee for credit cards. With the recent points transfer devaluations it's time to move.

Looking for a visa/mastercard backup to Amex with decent points earning (read 1/$1). Must have free supplementry cards, for SWMBO. I don't care the type of point in theory are it is good to warehouse some points for transfer to non-QF airlines. No paper statement fee.

Primarily this is a way for SWMBO to have a visa/mastercard - I have a different visa/mastercard backup.

Or you could just buy a printer? :)

The problem is I use the paper statement to prompt payment of the bill. I've missed payments on a few other bills that have forced me to this paperless nonsense. I'd also need to remember to download and print the bill on the rare occasions that I'm at home. I don't do direct debit for anything.

I also haven't seen a decrease in annual fee to offset the reduced cost of providing the service.

You could probably line up an IFTTT script to automatically print the statement when it arrives? Probably too complicated.

St George/Bank of Melbourne/Bank of SA Amplify Signature card is closest I can think off the top of my head:

https://www.stgeorge.com.au/personal/credit-cards/rewards/amplify-signature

0.75 pts/$ + 10% birthday bonus, no annual fee in the first year and 1 free additional cardholder. Don't know if any paper statement fee.

I don't think what you are looking for (1pt/$) exists any more. You're going to need to compromise on something.

You can get 1 QF point per $ (most have points cap which may or may not be in play), but most VA/SQ etc cards pay less than 1 point per $. The only exceptions I can think of are Citi-issued.

If you're on a fee free for life Citi Signature, it might be easiest just to pay $24 a year if you must have the paper statements. Moreso if you're on the Prestige.

I've assumed it'll be like jetstar where they sent an email to tell me the statement is ready to download once I login.
But that looks interesting
thanks

 Facepalm
yes, it is the fee free for life.

They recently moved me to some other product, not sure if it was prestige.
That's embarrassing but just highlights how I don't have time to keep track of the basics.

thanks for the suggestions.

The problem is I use the paper statement to prompt payment of the bill.

I just have Google calendar email me a reminder a few days before my bills are due. Easy to set up and then never need to think about it again (assuming your bills are always due on roughly the same day of the month, of course).

They do attach the pdf statement but it is password protected. Not sure if that would be an issue.

To be honest, I just set up a direct debit so it doesn't matter if I forget

Very disappointing to receive this email from Citibank. Big business is thinking of more and more ways to scam everything possible.

What next? Pay a surcharge to pay off your credit card? Oh wait 28 Degrees beat them to it. Silly.

This might have something to do with the steep increase in the price of postage.

I prefer paper statements too but I won't pay for them. As soon as I get the email I set up a post dated BPay and forget about it. I'm thinking about setting up direct debits now that 28 Degrees are charging for BPay. The thing I love about the Bankwest transaction account is that there is always enough money in there to cover the bills and I'm earning QFF points on the daily balance.

I save my statements to Dropbox so I always have access to them.

I wouldn't cancel a Citibank fee free for life. Even if you don't use it you still get free priority pass membership. Also, .75 points per dollar spent is about the best you can do for warehousing points with Visa/MasterCard.
