Hi all,

Would probably like to avoid having the car sitting at the airport for our 3 week U.S holiday in July/August.

Wondering if anyone can recommend a car service (reliable !) to take us to MEL airport from Mornington Peninsula area (around Mornington) - and then to pick us up and take us back home at the end of our trip ??

Thought about renting a car each way, but it turned out to be too much hassle, so would probably prefer a car service.

Figure we would be looking around $400 for the 3 weeks through the airport (I like parking in the Undercover Long Term Parking (so, usually more expensive) - and might be able to get a car service to/from for around this price ???

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks,

Brooke

Maybe a silly question, but have you considered asking friends or even offering them $100 each way? I'm sure there would be takers.

Thanks for the responses.

It's not really a cost issue that I am trying to avoid - more a possible flat battery after sitting idle for 3 weeks. Although, it is a new car - so maybe not an issue ?

We have no friends near us, and no family (all in NSW) - so that's not an option either.

Probably just "bite the bullet" i guess, and drive in.

Cheers anyway :)

Living down Patterson Lakes way I often rent cars for such.

I can collect in the city within 24 hours of the flight and drive it home, then back to the airport the next day. (I often fill the vehicle up at the service centre on the Western Ring road [avoiding tolls]).

I can do similar on the return as well.

Total cost should be little more than $160 (depending on the cars).

My parents travel from Geelong and often stay in a nearby motel where they include parking and a shuttle to the airport.

The Melb Airport Best Western offers that. About 10 mins from AP and has shuttle service.

Living down here on the MP myself, and being in similar situation to the OP (family interstate... friends on other side of town) it's certainly frustrating there's not more viable options for getting to AP without pumping another $100-300 into the MAC coffers.

Hi Brooke,
Maybe this info is a bit late and you have already made arrangements but we use Rob Taylor ([email protected]). He has a new Merc and is very punctual. The last time we used him was last October and it was $185 each way from Mt Martha

If its a new car a flat battery is unlikely after that timeframe.
