Following is an email I received from Virgin Blue. I must have missed the original announcement.

Virgin Blue said:
AT LAST! BOOK FLIGHTS
FROM AS LITTLE AS
1400 REWARD POINTS*!

Last week, we announced our Red Card Sale, which meant members of Velocity, Virgin Blue’ new loyalty program, were able to book routes on sale from as little as 1,400 Velocity Reward Points* on any available Virgin Blue seats, any flight, any time.

So what? Well, you can’t do that with Qantas Frequent Flyer!

With Velocity, you earn 6 Velocity Points for every $1 you spend on Virgin Blue fares. Reward points are also credited to your Velocity Account every time you use a Velocity Partner, including...
> Virgin Atlantic
> Emirates
> Europcar
...and every time you use a Velocity NAB Credit Card

And of course, with Velocity, there’s our ‘any seat redemption’ and ‘no black out periods’ when redeeming your points. You won’t get that with Qantas Frequent Flyer either.

Now what? Join Velocity before Virgin Blue goes on sale again, so you too can redeem ridiculously low amounts of points for reward flights. Joining Velocity is free online, and only takes 5 minutes!

* When redeeming for flights, taxes and government surcharges are payable in addition to points redeemed. Velocity is operated by Velocity Rewards Pty Ltd as trustee of the Loyalty Trust. ‘Membership of Velocity is subject to the Member terms and conditions, as amended from time to time.
A couple of swipes at QFF! :o

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Keep sticking it to Qantas. Every QFF should sign up to Velocity (especially members with any status). I can see the day with the Virgin marketing machine tells the market how many top tier QFF members have signed up with them.

Great for competition :p
