Apologies if this has been covered in a previous thread, happy to be directed to the relevant thread. I'm trying to redeem points through the Velocity website for a Qatar flight to Europe via "Reward Seat". I have found some availability that suits. When going through the booking process I just don't see where I can choose to redeem with points and then pay the cash for the carrier charges (best value) rather than paying for the trip with all points. I'm reticent to go too far in the process for fear of paying for the trip with all points. Have googled, but to no avail.
Any help would be very appreciated.

You do need to proceed into the booking, and there is a slider on the payment page which you use to choose the number of points vs cash you wish to use. It comes before you pay anything, don't worry ... although I admit it can be worrying the first time because it does appear when you first select your flight that you'll be paying with the full number of points.
