What happens to any rewards points earned if a refund is put through onto a credit card? EG If I paid for a fully refundable hotel room and then 3 months later decided I didn't want to stay there and had the refund put back onto my card. Do I keep the points earned on the original credit card transaction?

No, in my experience you will lose the earned points when you receive a refund on a credit card transaction. Eg. if you make the purchase in January, earn the points, and then in March you receive a refund for that transaction, the points will also be deducted from your March points tally. I hope this makes sense.

You lose the points if a merchant refunds.

If its a cash payment then it's a payment and the points stand.

Agree, depends on how the merchant processes the transaction, refund or correction you lose the points, but sometimes they just process as a credit & happy days.
