Refused access to HNL QP when booked on QF code

I'm trying to work out if I've missed something here... But I think I'm right.

I'm at HNL, myself and an SG are booked on the QF codeshare flight number to Nadi. We've both been refused access to the QP as "today is a Jetstar day, not a Qantas day" and the flight has left.

We attempted access at 10am. My understanding is that the HNL lounge is a QP until 11am daily. There was a Qantas rep there (in his Qantas uniform, standing next to a Qantas Club sign) but he gave the story about it only being a QP on the days QF3/4 operate and only until the flight leaves.

I'd have thought that, if it's still a QP (which the website states it is) then access should be granted to WP/SG/QP as long as they're booked on the QF code. Sound right? Or am I way off?

There is a rumour doing the rounds that the Admirals Club is about to move out of this lounge location, and into a new cohabitation agreement with JAL’s Sakuru Lounge.

With Strategic (Air Australia) about to start HNL services, Virgin Australia’s newly enhanced relationship with Hawaiian and the perennial rumours about QF ending its own metal services to HNL, it wouldn’t surprise me if this particular lounge was about to transition to “Aloha Lounge by Jetstar” (just like Gold Coast Lounge & Akarana Lounge by Jetstar).

In the past this lounge has remained “open” during the transition from Qantas Pub to Admirals Club, even though it did “officially close as a Qantas Lounge” after the departure of the last (wholly owned) Qantas Group flight of the day. (During this transition, although QF contract staff still worked the lounge, AA access rules come into effect. IMO quite a nice handover between friends. Not so good for QF codeshare customers on FJ though.) Perhaps it was just a miscommunication to mention Jetstar within the given excuse for denied access, or maybe ground staff have already started Jetstarisation training.

+American Airlines operates this lounge for some American Airlines departures outside Qantas operating hours
[h=2][/h]It Says QF Lounge till 11AM. Even then wouldn't you have access to AA lounge as SG travelling on QF flight number? That sucks

Because it's a non-Qantas operated flight, I don't believe access to the Admirals Club would be available to any QF customers... however if it's a QP (and it should be until 11am) then I believe I should have gotten access. Guess another email to Qantas is coming up... should we take bets on how long it takes for them to send me a pre-written letter! (actually... why do I even bother)

For those interested, Qantas have advised that the HNL QP now closes at 9:30am on JQ days. This contradicts the QF website which they advise was overlooked and I'd imagine it will now change. It seems even Qantas are confused about this one, as initially they told me access wasn't permitted because FJ operate the flight and they're not in OneWorld, then they said "oh yes, sorry, you should have had access" now they say the openning hours have changed and they haven't updated the website. I'd say the latter is probably correct.

What's frustrating is that all maps in HNL airport identify it as a QP, there are multiple signs with "The Qantas Club" and arrows pointing to the lounge throughout the airport, getting in the lift you need to press a button marked "Qantas Club" to go up a level and finally the staff are wearing Qantas uniforms... but it's not a Qantas Club!

I don't really understand why they keep the act up. It would be easier to remove all QF references and just have it as an Admirals Club with passes for JQ pax.

Very frustrating I'd say. For a company that spends billions a year (well, lots of millions), you'd think they could get the little things right for their passengers.

Completely agree with this issue. Don't sell us off to partners/codesahre services as a good move to expand network for us the customer, when we will be unable to access normal QF benefits.

Had similar experience recently. I couldn't enter using my QC membership at 9am cos I wasn't flying QF (fair enough) but I also couldn't get in on my Priority pass as the lounge was QF until 11am then it became an Admiral's club so I missed out on both counts.

These earlier hours have been in place for a while on JQ days. I used the lounge to kill a few hours before an onwards AA flight - had arrived on a JQ Business Max fare.

By the time I made it to the lounge (somewhere before 10), it was already transitioned to AA.

Entry granted based on Platinum Amex (didn't have any QF status then).

I havent had any issues with access flying QF or AA on WP.... i have had issues with the fact that its a coughpy lounge in a coughpy location!

I have got into SIN QP with a mate of mine.

He was travelling on Air Asia to KL and I was flying to SYD and the lounge Angel in SIN said your mate can not come in but it is OK this time.

We knew it was against the rules but we had a good attitude when where told no we didn't blow up or abuse them and she said it's ok this time.

I was at the QP in HKG one day and saw a group blow up because there was 3 SG but they wanted to guest 4 people in.

I could have guest one in but there attitude was shocking for adults over being told "NO"

What I am trying to say is maybe the groups attitude was not good so the lounge Angel become a lounge Dragon.

Whenever flying on a OneWorld carrier, you are entitled to access to any of the OneWorld lounges (as either SG/WP/CL but not QC). You should have also had access to the JL lounge.

I was at the QP in HKG one day and saw a group blow up because there was 3 SG but they wanted to guest 4 people in.

I could have guest one in but there attitude was shocking for adults over being told "NO"

What I am trying to say is maybe the groups attitude was not good so the lounge Angel become a lounge Dragon.

It is a general statement I don't know you at all so it is not personal and it was implied that way.

I work in an industry that if someone blows up about something you can play the company line and you are right on the rules or if we want we can go over and above if the attitude of the person is correct and generally we go over and above the company line.
