I signed up for the free gold membership (via priority club). I signed up because I need somewhere to study in the lead up to exams and finding a seat at USYD during stuvac is harder than finding a seat at QP on a Friday evening.

So I've signed up and looked for the nearest buisnessworld lounge. I've rocked up and there's no way to get into the lift that would take you to the right level. No one is answering the phone either.

Has anyone actually used any of the lounges in Sydney? And are they really 24h? If so, how does one normally gain access (I don't have my membership card yet, just an email and a number which is meant to suffice)?

Cheers.

I'd be really interested so hear the result of this as I have the same membership and it could come in handy.

I'm going to give it another crack tomorrow when their reception is manned.

Queens Birthday holiday tomorrow - you'll be lucky if they're open

I've used the so-called business lounge in HK - turned out it was just the kitchen area within the Serviced Office complex, handy for checking email and getting a free cup of nespresso but really just as easy to use wi-fi in a cafe without the fuss. Have to pay for phone calls, printing, faxing also.

Seems like just a strategy to get people in to sell you meeting room and office services...

I had a similar experience in Paris. The Macs were so old and useless I ended up leaving and having to find an internet cafe anyway.

So my report...

I've been using the businessworld closest to me in Sydney for about 4 days now. Staff pretty quickly keyed into the fact that I was a uni student. Decided to explain to them that I had been given a free membership and was using the space to study. They just laughed and we're very good about showing me to a quiet space and explaining all the facilities.

For what I need its pretty well perfect - close to home, quiet, always able to get a spot to work. And the price is right!

I recently took up the Mileage Plus free Regus Businessworld Gold membership, and will make my first use of the lounge on a visit to Perth next week. Can anyone tell me what the quality of food and drinks provided in the lounges are like?

If you are thrilled when you get biscuits and tea, then you may be placated :)

Whilst I can't specifically talk about Sydney ones, the best way of thinking about such places is it's an open plan office (and normal offices are available).
I used them in SFO (a friend of mine worked for Regus, and let me use one of their spare offices whilst I was there which was pretty cool). Provided food was limited to what you'd expect in a normal office (aka tea / coffee / biscuits).

I've also been a member of servecorp which had similar features which I have used in AU / NZ.
