Just for the sake of curiosity...

Say hypothetically I applied for a visa to go to Tibet and it was rejected, does this get recorded anywhere? Would it ever be likely to cause problems if you have had a visa rejected somewhere? Would other countries know about it if you didn't tell them?

Thanks in advance :)

my understanding is that you are required to have a Tibet travel Permit to enter Tibet... so you could comfortably say you have never been refused a 'visa' if you were asked that question by another country.

there are difficulties for foreigners travelling to Tibet... other countries accept this and i doubt they would hold this against you.

i believe the advice is to omit any intentions to travel to Tibet on your chinese visa application. i don't know how current that advice is.

Hypothetical question wasn't actually so hypothetical ;)

Mainly just curious to know if countries (or autonomous regions) record these things on a database somewhere and share it?

i would almost certainly think china itself records this information. it may use that as part of future chinese visa applications you may make.

as it's not a visa, and because of the sensitivities around tibet, I don't think other countries would be concerned even if it was recorded.
