First up - apologies, I know there are A LOT of threads re this but I just want some clear clarification to help with utilising family pooling and maintaining status.

I have just become a gold FF w review date of 6th September 2014.

Say I meet re-qualification criteria by February 1st 2014; does this date become my new review date and then have another 12 months to re-maintain gold ie till February 1st 2015?

OR...even though I have reached maintain level by February, does this mean come my original review date (6th september 2014) that then I will be requalified for another 12 months to i.e. 6th September 2015?

Thank you all

Hi blingy90, your review date will not reset again unless you hit Platinum. The velocity site will show 'Achieved' under SCs required to maintain Gold in Feb but won't be reviewed again til Sept, so your second interpretation is correct (you'll have it til Sept 2015).

Probably best to switch on Family Pooling in Feb unless you can, and want to, hit Plat.

Good question.

I am not completely clear on this myself. I qualified in June, and I thought that VA used a 'rolling' SC accrual to determine status ... which, if I was right would mean that some SC's will start to fall off and I'd need to find not only the 500SC's extra to move to Plat but also replace those SC's that fall off before I qual plat.

Having said that, its my belief that whatever happens to my SC pile I'll remain Gold until June 2014 ... having qualified, I now remain qualified until that date.

I would have qualified earlier than this but I hit the 'rolloff' SC thing I mention above and lost about a hundred before I managed to hit the gold bar. I reckon its a good system, I don't much like the hard review date thing that other programs use as I think it discourages flying late in your review year ... unless you are very close to the next tier. For example, it becomes a very dodgy proposition to fly J international on the 31st DEC if your review is 1st JAN

Probably stating the obvious but there are 2 counts at play here - your rolling 'Status Credit Balance' and those required to maintain a level of status.

The Status Credit Balance is only applicable to going (up) from one level to another, and as you say can almost be an art in itself planning SC drop offs and additions.

In the case of the OP though all they'll need is to earn the 400 in 12 months, irrespective of their Status Credit Balance (unless they're looking to go for Platinum).
