Well, after all the flying I did in 2010 I am on my way back to Silver.

Status Credit Balance 49,651 Gold Benefits Expire 28 Feb 2011 Status Credits Required to Maintain 349 by 31 Dec 2010
Should I send them an impoverished email and ask them nicely to be kind to me and enable me to retain my Gold status, or am I wasting my time?

What do the good people on here reckon?.....or do you know of any other way I can acquire the deficit?

Well, I can but try:D

Kind Regards

Can't you do an el cheapo flight in the next few days to tip you over?

Well, I must say, that was very poor planning to miss out by that many SCs!

I'm surprised you haven't been comp'd. They gave it to me last year with only 17,000 SCs.

Get yourself a virgin money cc and spend to top up your points

Davy needs SCs, not points. As far as I am aware, you don't get SCs fo CC spend.

Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

DJ to their credit are after customers who are loyal, hence the recent offer to QF status card holders. It makes business sense to offer incentives for people to put their credit card on one of their flight bookings. They have been actively searching for loyal customers.

I haven't seen QF offering anything to anyone, let alone their elites. No real surprise. They seem to have all the business they want. Even other OW airlines are looking at QF flyers.

Perhaps call/email DJ with future plans and see what they are willing to do for a loyal customer. What's to lose?

Thanks to all for your replies.

I emailed Velocity yesterday in the hope that they will reward my loyalty and waive the needed 349 Status Credits.

Can only hope I guess.

Thanks to all who replied:)

Well......My grovelling email must have worked:D I received a phone call today from Amy at Velocity and she informed me that I have retained my Gold status as a result of my loyalty. Then she asked me to check my Velocity account details to verify that the required 349 status credits had been "donated" to enable myself to retain the Gold status.

Good news indeed:D

Once again, thanks for your replies.

Hey congratulations and well done. The same should be said to DJ. A company that looks after its customers keeps its customers.

Thanks too for sharing the good news.

Yes, DJ deserve plaudits. Especially for acting as quick as they did, and the phone call from Velocity was appreciated.

A bit late to reply, but I would have expected them to extend Gold for you, after all the 349 SC’s is about a $50 ticket, so it’s hardly a stretch for them. I do wonder if there was a system that might have kicked in had you not emailed, extending your membership anyway.

Congrats either way.

It's great to hear Velocity is stepping in to keep their loyal guests happy!

I finished the year on 17 715 SCs. The biggest disappointment was that I didn't get any SCs for flights to/from to China on MH in July. Velocity credited points but not SCs and said that SCs could only be earned for flights after Oct 1. This wasn't stated on the Velocity website when I booked and it's still not stated there now!

I've just sent a groveling email to Velocity asking if they'll comp the remaining SCs.... Fingers crossed!!

Cheers,
notmensa
