Hey Everyone,
Earlier this year I participated in the QF status match promotion as I'm presently a UA Premier Gold member. I was able to qualify for Gold after collecting the requisite 100 status credits needed (SYD > DRW in Discount Y, DRW > MEL > SYD in Discount Y with a double status credit offer) and wasn't able to fly much thereafter due to the whole COVID situation in NSW. My membership year ends on November 30, 2021 although I'll have QF Gold through November 30, 2022 even without any flying as I qualified for the match back in April.

I've got a few trips booked in the coming weeks and months ahead now that the restrictions are starting to go away, namely a JQ flight from SYD to AVV on Nov 19-21, and a trip to HNL in late May on JQ as well. These two flights will net me 40 SCs (JQ MAX) and 90 SQs (JQ Plus) which when combined with the 100 status credits means I would be at 230 SCs by May (supposing QF rolls over the status credits). If I'm not mistaken the number of status credits to re-qualify for Gold is 600 meaning I'll be a third of the way there if my Maths are correct. Could someone confirm if my thinking is correct here?

I plan on taking a few more trips later this year supposing the JQ sales continue as the differential between JQ Starter and Max are trivial for the SCs you get in return.

Your Trusty,

That's correct. You can also receive a 50 SC loyalty bonus after earning 500 SC on QF/JQ flights which may be worth pursuing. Rolled over SC do not count towards this however.

You may also get lucky with a further extension from Qantas, certainly there is a case for Jul/Aug/Sep anniversaries for an extension - you may be lucky enough to get lumped in with that group. The current line from Qantas on this is:

While our current support is for members with a status end date up to 30 June 2022, we are always looking at ways we can help support members during these challenging times. Depending on how long travel restrictions continue, we will update members closer to the time if we extend our support further.

Yes I did the status match but only got gold from Virgin Platinum. Only flown once Perth-Darwin in May.
Mine expires March 30 2022. Want to go to London but being in WA who knows what conditions will be? and crossing the border. Could go out and back from Darwin. Qantas direct seems to be the only way for least hassle. Goodness knows what transit somewhere will be like and you don't know what you will get (Covid infected in confined plane cabin?) on the second leg.

The second leg should be the least of your worries if your final destination is London...

Yes but I won't be cramped in close confinement for 12hrs and will be very careful not being in close confines eg tube, bus, with many people.
