Return of Wifi on Virgin Australia

Is there a way to tell which plane you're going to be on? I fly MEL-PER next week and was hoping it might be Wifi enabled.

Active regos with wifi
VOO
VUR/S/T
YFC/E/H/R/S/Y
YIA/D/J/V
YQH
YWA/D

I was on YWE yesterday. The crew advised that wifi was available and it gave you the option to purchase a pass or login for free as a business class or platinum guest. I was in J but it wouldn’t let me log in with my name and seat number. (It also didn’t work for one of the other J pax.)

I had something similar where my phone autocompleted my surname and the form failed. I realised the phone had inserted a space at the end of the name field. Removing this let me log in (really you'd think the site should strip starting/ending whitespace when validating for a good user experience).

I've searched high and low, perhaps this info isn't available yet, however, I am trying to find the rego number for VA83 for its first departure from OOL to DPS.
Would this be known yet? (asking to check WiFi status).

Wouldn't be assigned yet. Can change on day of departure depending if tail is late or stuck somewhere.

Most likely VH-YI* series

Has anyone created a list of their aircraft retrofitted with USB power?
YIG-YIZ (except YIJ & YIU) have USB power in Y. These aircraft are the only ones that do the Bali runs, so unless you get YIJ & YIU, you’ll be all set with power.

They’re not actively retrofitting any aircraft in economy. The only two that had power added were IJQ & IWQ as part of the trial interiors.

Ahhh great info, thank you 👌😁

VH-YIL last night had wifi on VA981. It only would stay connected for a minute or two and wasn’t particularly good.

Definitely has the new system but wifi nor entertainment functioning on the overnight red eye from Perth this morning. Disappointing as I was looking forward to giving it a go!
It’s still broken?! The IFE and wifi wasn’t working when I had VUP on Sunday too.

On YFU this morning on VA917 and WiFi is working, however it wasn't mentioned by cabin crew in the onboarding announcement, just the usual "if you'd like to access entertainment you can do so BYOD".

Patchy service - works for a while and then just jams up.

Ping 619ms and download at 58mb/s via Speedtest.

That's a shame about it being patchy, damn unreliable satellite internet is annoying :/

I think they must be close to the 50% rollout point, which looks to be ahead of schedule, that's one positive :)
