Does anyone know or can speculate with any degree of confidence if QF or VA will publish revised domestic mainline routes over the next few months. My international work wings were clipped some time back and domestic wings were clipped early this week. I was advised I would not have to travel for at least the next 2-3 weeks. A few days later I am rebooking on the same flights I had this time last week, my domestic travel is MEL, SYD, ADL or be it any combination.

Once I had re booked this week's domestic flights and out of curiosity I started looking at flights for April, May and June, guess what all my regular flights and for that matter most flights are still available to book. With a 50-60% reduction in mainline traffic will the real flights be published or are travelers just expected to take a punt on what flight will operate and hope for the best. Looking at ET site it was published that for QF the following reductions are in place, I cannot find VAs:
  • QF - Sydney-Melbourne (88 return services per week, down from 250)
  • QF - Sydney-Adelaide (21 return services per week, down from 54)
  • QF - Melbourne-Adelaide (27 return services per week, down from 69)
In most cases I can fly any combination across QF and VA but without flight numbers and times it is almost impossible to work out. At least with QF I can fall back on the SST to help me out, with the VA cheapskates one cannot get in touch with anyone to help.

As stated in other threads I do not actually like flying, it is just another form of transport. Apologies if this has come over as a rant.

Expertflyer has all the flights, but a lot are showing 0 availability (which is a precursor to cancellation).

For example, on 01 APR on QF, EF is only showing non-0 availablity in the following MEL-SYD flights (all departing at xx:00)
am: 6,7,8,9,10
pm: 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21

For SYD-MEL, same except 22:05 flight instead of 21:00.

Might be a good time for an EF membership. I've avoided getting one to date but to try plan upcoming trips and out of just general curiosity for flights load, it could be a good investment.
