Hi, a silly question that I should know the answer to, and I cannot find a simple explanation on AFF.

I made some reward bookings early in 2014 for domestic flights. All the flights are showing "U" class, but I think some were booked as Classic Awards and not as a MASA. So should the Classic bookings be in "I" class?

Cheers.

No, I is a revenue fare. U is the Awards and Upgrade fare.

Thanks mannej. OK, so how does a pax or QF differentiate between a Classic bookings and a (now withdrawn) JASA if they are both allocated "U" class?

It was a bit of back-end magic that didn't always work properly.

This should be my last comment on this topic. The QF website states points and status credits are earned with U class "when booked as an Any Seat Award only".

So I guess this means QF know the difference between a Classic and mASA booking, but it is not always clear for the pax?

Correct, only the QF system knows for sure :).

Many moons ago, I class was used for group bookings in the Y cabin. Just a bit of trivia for you on a Wednesday afternoon.

Check your QFF activity.

A classic award transaction is similar to this:

21 APR 14
CLASSIC AWARD POINTS DEDUCTION 1
PASSENGER REF xx_xx_

A JASA is similar to this:

23 JUN 14
QANTAS & JETSTAR ANY SEAT AWARD 1 ADT
REF xx_xx_
