Hi,
I am looking to book a flight BNE to HKG via SYD on qantas paying cash. I hope to then connect onto a reward flight from HKG to HEL with a 2:35 hour layover in HKG. Returning I hope to fly HEL to SIN on reward booking and then SIN to BNE on cash. Is it possible to combine a cash and reward booking with qantas. Appreciate any help!

I know you can with a return, but don’t think you can via the web for a multi-city.

It is however dangerous to do so because the fine print on a refund of the points of you have to cancel is nasty - don’t recall what the catch is, but make sure to read the fine print very carefully

I don’t think the multi-city search engine will let you mix and match. It is otherwise possible (in theory at least) to do a return booking (cash one way and points the other). ie BNE-HEL (return) using cash fare one way and CRs the other (if you can find those CRs and they show up in the standard search engine.

Something like the most restrictive cancellation restrictions apply to the whole booking. Peeps have discovered this doing simple domestic return trips - points one way, cash the other - but you don’t need to for domestic. Book seperate one ways (for domestic trips).

Book seperate one ways.
Yeah, that's the way. Book each leg separately. So long as your confident that the 2:35 layover on HKG is sufficient to catch the HKG to HEL flight. You want to leave sufficient time to collect bags at HKG, check-in for the HEL flight etc.

Book each leg separately
But that would create 2 one ways - which in the context of an international cash fare is much more expensive compared to a return fare unless using a JQ ticket (between SYD-SIN, SIN-SYD)

@Archer_S
Possibly this:
1)AU-international hub return cash fare
2) International hub-HEL and separately HEL-international hub points
3)BNE-AU and separately AU-BNE points.

4)Note that JQ will do reasonable one way fares between SYD and SIN which open the possibility of a QF points one way and JQ cash the other way. JQ will also do SIN-DPS-BNE
